Belief Based Birth: A Journey Into Embodied Care
In this modern world saturated with courses and certifications, one of the most pressing questions I believe we can ask is:
“What am I truly embodied in?
This question was at the heart of my 7 year journey studying birth work. Studies which took me across the globe — through classrooms, birth clinics, in-person apprenticeships, ceremonies, workshops and retreats. And after learning SO MUCH one question remained -
“Where exactly does my work lie?” “What can I offer to the world with the deepest integrity?"
I explored countless approaches to birth. Techniques, tools, different traditions. I learned how to hold space in many ways — but deep down, I didn’t want to be a doula that offered many different pieces from different places. I wanted to offer something that came from the core of who I am.
After seven years studying The Work with my teacher, Tanya Murphy and bridging the belief and birth worlds, I can say: My refined offerings are clear. Grounded. And deeply embodied.
I offer birth mentorship, both before and after birth, as well as grounded attendance at births.
I believe birthwork is not about guiding the inside out, not in the outside in. For this reason my mentorship is a full-spectrum offering rooted in education, belief exploration and the mind-body connection.
Before the birth we explore: • beliefs around the body, pain, control, and trust • feelings about hospitals, c-sections, doctors, midwives, or home birth • fears around pregnancy, birth, postpartum, parenthood • beliefs around the body and birth eg and what is right / wrong or good / bad • the stories you’ve inherited — and the ones you wish to re-write.
After the birth we reflect on • the story of the birth • new or old beliefs around the body, birth, parenthood • what parts of you were born and are still integrating • the teachings of birth • what is needing extra support and holding now? and how can we support you with this?
My offerings are rooted in relationships, not transactions. I am surrounded and supported by a vast network of trusted midwives / doctors / body workers and refer out when needed. I also only work with a small number of clients so I can offer my full presence and care.
If you are looking for someone to walk beside you — not just during the birth but in the mental, emotional, and spiritual preparation for it — that is the space I serve in.
This is birth work as soul work.
This is my offering.
Whether we are offering support or receiving it, may it come from the deepest place in us.
Love Meg xx
